This is the practice schedule for the high school and junior high football teams at Madill prior to the beginning of school. Equipment will be issued at 1 p.m. on Aug. 4 for the high school. The junior high players will be issued equipment at 3 p.m. A team meeting is slated for 8 p.m.
Madill senior-to-be wide receiver Trevor Goff collected the second-most fan votes in an All-Southeast Oklahoma poll conducted by Vype Magazine to select the top four wide receivers for the upcoming year. Both football seniors at MHS signed a letter of intent Wednesday (Feb. 1) morning in front of family, friends, classmates, coaches and area media. Sanders will play at NEO in Miami. Madill’s JJ Sanders and Trevor Goff have been named to the All-Ardmoreite football team for 2016 as receivers. The area newspaper announces the squad each year. Sanders is a senior and Goff is a junior. The Wildcats returned to the playoffs in 2016 after having missed the postseason since 2012. Madill also posted a winning record in the 2016
The All-District football team for 3A-4 has been officially announced. Several Wildcats were named to the squad this postseason. Raygan Dodd earned quarterback of the year. JJ Sanders took the receiver of the year award. Paxton Arterberry made the first team as a defensive tackle and Danny Sanchez grabbed first-team honors
The Class 3A’s No. 2 John Marshall Bears scored seven offensive touchdowns in the first half alone to all but guarantee their 63-21 victory Friday over Madill at Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City. The ‘Cats wrapped the season with a 6-5 mark in a return to the playoffs following a three-year absence from the postseason.
The Madill All-Sports Booster Club presents a community pep rally at 7 p.m. on Thursday (Nov. 10) in support of the football team’s venture into the playoffs Nov. 11 against the John Marshall Bears at Taft Stadium in Oklahoma City. The Madill-John Marshall contest is expected to be carried on Madill’s Livestream at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
